Volume Manager 5.1sp1 vea gui

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

I have upgraded a solaris9 machine from vxvm 4 to 5.1sp1.  I followed the recommendations to install the VRSTobgui compents for VEA, since it's no longer packaged with 5.1.  /etc/init.d/isisd does not start on machine boot.  When I start it manually, I get a "Error reading registry"  I notice that the server no longer has the VRTSobc directory in /opt.  There is a VRTSob however.   This machine previously had Cluster server running on it, I removed it before I upgraded the Volume Manager.  Volume Manger is function perfectly, just trying to get the VEAgui by x-window to work again.

thanks

Hi all,

IHAC who has upgraded their SF HA 6.1 on RHEL 5 and noticed their RUNQ increased four times (0.1 avg to 0.4 avg). AFAIK, nothing has been changed during the upgrade.

I'm wondering if it's an isolated case or expected behavior?

SF/HA 6.1 support for RHEL 6.5 - when?

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Hi,

I have read another thread on the topic, where it is concluded that there is support in 6.0.3 with patch, but not in 6.1 (VxFS/ODM specifically) (https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sf6...).

VxVM 6.1 seems to run fine on my test RHEL6.5 though, but not the file system.

Of course there will be full support for RHEL 6.5 at some point, but can anyone share some light on the timeframe?

/A

VCS Switch Over problem

Hi,

I do have som problems when testing Cluster Switch (2 node cluster VCS 6.2, Solaris 10). We test with init 6. Active node always hangs with :

I noticed that the init script /etc/rc0.d/K99vxvm-shutdown does stop the vxconfigd and also does "/usr/sbin/vxdctl -k stop".

My question is do I need any vxvm init script since the upgrade from 5 to 6.1 is done and we have SMF service in place, or should I increase the timeouts of the VCS stop procedures?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Cheers

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Dear All

I have some enviornments of SFHA and VCS installed on Linux and Solaris servers.

I have output of VRTSexplorer logs for every system. As the VRTSexplorer contains almost everything collected, I wanted to know if is it possible to get the following output of these requirements

1. Which license and version and sub-version is installed on system? like for example if version 5.0 is installed which patch version is installed ?

I want something except "vxlicrep"

2. If in the case of Replication, which file will give output of Bandwidth limit if it is configured.

3. If in the case of Replication, which file will give output of packet size if it is configured.

Any suggession will be appreciated. Assume I just have VRTSexplorer and investigating logs and need to know the following.

We have VXVM on our redhat 5.8, recently vxdclid starts consuming 100% of the servers CPU.

Is it safe to restart vxdclid without any impact on the server/volumes/disks?

Hello, I am working with a server with Solaris 8 and Veritas Volume Manager. The server has the /usr encapsulated and as read only. I don't know how to remount it with read/writte permissions.  Here is the example:

mount -v

/dev/vx/dsk/bootdg/usr on /usr type ufs read-only/setuid/intr/largefiles/onerror=panic/dev=478b3b0

Hi, Suppose I have a striped volume with size of 125G(5x25G subdisks ) in Disk group. I have newly added  7x50G disks in to that disk group. I need to do mirroring in a condition that mirrored plex should take 5 disks only with 25G size... If I give vxassist -g <dg> <volume> mirror alloc=newdisk1,newdisk2...newdisk7 it will mirror but sub disks do not match. I need to get same number of subdisks in plex2 as well.. How to accomplish this? Any option is available with vxassist?

Non, je n'ai pas besoin d'une solution (je partage des informations seulement)

hi,

I have some questions and I like to see your comment.

- I am not able to import an dg and not able to see it with vxprint. How could I recover this dg?

- if metadata on an vxvm logical volume is corrupted during the work,or the filesystem is corrupted, then the OS will unmount the filesystem?

-when I configure an dg under an HA and this dg is not shared, then is necessary to perform the configuration on master node?

-why when there is a need to configure an shared dg,the configuration must be done on master node?

tnx a lot,

marius

Hello all,

I'd appreciate any help with the following issue -

When I execute the command vxprint, I get the following error: bash: /usr/sbin/vxprint: Not owner

The same error is returned when I run the vxdisk command (as root using sudo).

Any idea regarding the cause of this error and how it can be resolved?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have the following situation:

Mistakenly, an administrator has issued a vxdisksetup -i -f to an existing disk.

The vxdisk -e list shows the disk online, but no dg, volumes (as expected after the vxdisksetup command)

Is it possible to recover the previous existing data on this disk?.

Thanks to all.

all ideas are welcomed

Dear Experts

SFHA version 6

OS version RHEL 6.2

I am creating HA/DR (Global Cluster)

I have multiple NICs, i was creating replication setup between Primary and DR. I created RVG but at the time of adding secondary (addsec)

I got the following error

vradmin -g PHX-DG addsec PHX-RVG 192.168.2.2 192.168.2.3
Message from Host 192.168.22.3:
VxVM vxvol ERROR V-5-1-10127 associating volume PHX with PHX-RVG:
Volume or plex device is open or attached
As I mentioned, i have multiple NICS therefore while adding secondary I wanted to use specific NIC i.e. eth3 which have the following IP mentioned in the error above.

I want replication to work via eth3 and from the IP i have mentioned above.

Any help where I am going wrong
